Happy Easter all and enjoy the break.
For part of the long weekend, I will be at 292 painting the exterior. We'll be priming all the new cladding and hopefully, if all going to plan, the first coat of the final colour. I will let you know how we go.

Inspiration - NYC Apartment

I came across this simple NYC Apartment by Manifold Architecture Studio (MAS) on Remodelista the other day. It is a small one bedroom apartment, however it seems spacious and has a nice flow. The simple colour and material palette helps and so does the well designed joinery.

It always a buzz when you see good design solutions that is seamless and effortless. Nice.

Inspiration - Exterior Doors in Colour

I've been thinking because my exterior colour scheme for 292 is going to be fairly neutral, I should take advantage of putting an interesting colour on the exterior doors. Here are some of the images that I had stored away for inspiration - I'm clearly attracted to turquoises, duck egg blues and citrus greens.

Ruby Wedding Anniversary

Today is my parent's Ruby Wedding Anniversary. They have been together for 40 years - phew! That is quite something. Congratulations Mum and Dad!

Finally - here are the photos of the 'library' that I have previously mentioned on this blog. My clients have been among house renovation madness, however, they managed to un-pack their book collection (and give away 18 boxes of books!) and fill their new shelves. It looks great and already a part of the room. The clients have located the comfy armchair on this level for future reading and have asked me to design a desk for their computer and toy (lego) storage. This will complete the picture.

292 - Weatherboards

We went onsite at 292 today to check out how the weatherboards were going. It was good to see that they are almost finished.
My brother, Dorian and I took a tour around the apartments and enjoyed looking at the progression that has happened over the last wee while. It was great to bounce some ideas with Dorian, who is also in the architecture industry and show him the developments that will be taking place in the interiors of the apartments. Thanks bro.

292 - Cladding

I visited on-site this afternoon and it's all looking pretty good.

The digger was there removing the mounds of dirt we had left over from our excavation. This will make it easier to set up the scaffolding for the exterior work we're about to do.

You can also see the start of the cladding at the lower level. Hopefully the weatherboards will be up on the upper level next week.

I also had the delivery of my new kitchen appliances today! It all arrived on a big pallet - appliances for two kitchens is taking up half of my parent's garage. The plumbing for two bathrooms will turn up next week to take up the other half...

The development of Mokum's latest fabric range Moderne 2010 can be seen on their blog 'Studio 98'.

One of Moderne's influence was French fashion designer Madeleine Vionnet (1876-1975). She designed beautiful evening dresses in the 20-30's and one of her beadworks has been re-created  by Mokum as an textile pattern called 'Vionnet'. You can also note the Peacock influence for the 'Rivoli' fabric.

Mokum Textiles is one textile brand that I never tire of. They are an Australian based textile company and every year they come out with great collections.
The latest release is called 'Moderne 2010'. Inspired by Art Deco and Parisian designers, you can see that the range is on the elegant side.
Mokum create tight designs that work back well with their previous collections - which is useful for long term interior projects. Mokum use strong design influences but that doesn't stop their designs from being modern and suit most interior styles.
I will be attending the Moderne release here in Wellington and look forward to seeing and feeling these fabric up close.
